Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady was the perfect cruise at the perfect time for me! I mixed a little rest and relaxation to my research trip and found myself enjoying it immensely!
I have some definite thoughts about this cruise, which is all-adult! No one under the age if 18 is permitted on board. As a result, much of the entertainment and offerings are a bit edgy.
My experience may be different from most people. I have seen many YouTube videos and a lot of what is offered on a Virgin ship. Let me be up front, I am a very conservative, quiet kind of guy. I don't drink, for personal reasons, and I am not much for lout parties. So, you may be thinking, why would you choose this ship?
Two reasons!
One, it had been about 35 years since my first cruise aboard Carnival Cruise Lines original Carnivale. So, I was anxious to gain some knowledge on modern day cruising.
And two, as someone working to help my clients, I took advantage of the opportunity to sail somewhat anonymously.
My opinions are my own! And here they come!
Let me begin with Embarkation! This was so easy and orderly! I was expecting mass chaos and found this part to be the first bit of calm. Once you arrive at the port, there are porters ready to get your bags tagged for leasing onto the ship. they will then direct you to the proper line for boarding. Lines are separated by times. But once the loading begins, if one line empties, another is allowed to board regardless of the time on the clock. Personally, I was scheduled for a 2:30pm time and was on board, in my cabin by 2:15pm. Embarkation was smooth sailing!
The Valiant Lady is indeed a beautiful ship! And much bigger than I remember of my first cruise. I had an XL Sea Terrace, with a great view off of my balcony! The cabin is well appointed with everything you need including basic bathing needs, places to sit, comfy bed, and all you might expect. the room is controled by a tablet you find on the desk. From this device you can control your lights, curtains, temperature, and television.
There is a panel just inside your door that allows you to indicate Do Not Disturb (red), or if your cabin steward is allowed to service your cabin (blue). therre is a doorbell if you wish to use the Ship Eats delivery for meals in your cabin.
